Last time we checked in on little Moogle, she was enjoying her comfy new box stall up at the big cow barn. Wow, is she growing fast on her special diet of hay and grain. You can see from the pictures how much a little calf can grow in just 3 months. As you can see, Moogle is wearing a rope halter. We are training her to be lead around. This will prepare her to be a show cow when she is older. Moogle doesn’t like it very much, she’s been acting like a puppy who is learning to heel. Her personality is really starting to show. Every cow is different. They all have a unique personality, like us. Moogle is a very shy calf, She feels most comfortable with children. The more we work with her, the more comfortable she will get. We have to be careful not to treat her roughly or raise our voices at her. Some cows are very open and friendly, and some require time to build trust with their handlers. If you upset a cow, she may hold a grudge for months! Moogle is a sweet little calf. We’ll keep working with her until she doesn’t have any “stage fright.” Stay tuned for more posts about Moogle. We will be updating the blog once a month through the summer.
